Best Tasting Eco Coffee Pods – Independent newspaper 2021
Our Nespresso compatible eco coffee capsules filled with Ethiopian Yirgacheffe topped the list in Which? Magazine’s ‘Best compostable coffee pods‘ test, proving just how far coffee pods have come if you want to upgrade your coffee at home or in the office!
As you can imagine, a ‘Best Buy’ award for the ‘Best Eco-friendly Coffee Pods’ category was utterly exciting but we’ve since also secured a 2-Star Great Taste Award in 2020, cementing them as the UK’s best Nespresso compatible capsules that are also eco friendly. How’s that for a plastic free coffee swap!?
Which Magazine judge comments: “Fruity acidity, a toasty aroma and a pleasing sweetness characterise this milder coffee, which is typical of the region it’s from. One expert praised the lingering aftertaste but some experts thought adding milk could overshadow the sweetness, so this might be best served black.”
Great Taste Award 2020 Judge comments: “What a truly wonderful citrus and tropical rich coffee bean aroma your coffee has. Along with the fruity acidic sharp bitter notes, this coffee performs the perfect front stage ballet of flavour.”
The Independent newspaper declared our Ethiopian eco coffee pods as the Best Tasting in their 2021 judging, saying: “Blue Goose’s Ethiopian pod is the only compostable coffee pod so far to have been awarded two stars by the Great Taste awards. And it’s not hard to see why. Grown in Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, this coffee has a lighter, easy-drinking floral flavour and a rich crema….you can taste the difference.”
Lovingly grown in Yirgacheffe
It’s no wonder though, as Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, with the terroir of the Yirgacheffe coffee-growing region particularly famous for its floral notes of jasmine. A true Yirgacheffe is a real treat to savour and our Best Buy eco coffee pods, filled with speciality-graded Arabica coffee sourced from the village of Yirgacheffe itself, showcase all of this at the touch of a button.
Grown as ‘garden coffee’ in small lots at an altitude of between 1700-1900 meters, these pods are best served short and black so you can appreciate the terroir and characteristics of the coffee. No syrups or lashings of milk allowed ok…although it still tastes amazing as a flat white!
