What is the Swiss Water Coffee Process?
If you've enjoyed our Swiss Water Decaf coffee pods or read about our inspiration and the story behind our business, you'll know we believe in a concept we call 'conscious coffee'.
One that puts people and planet before profits. One that helps all of us make small positive steps towards sustainable, conscious consumption.
This is why we choose 100% chemical-free Swiss Water® decaffeinated coffee instead of coffee that has been decaffeinated using the same solvents found in paint stripper, like methylene chloride and ethyl acetate.
You see, the Swiss Water® Process uses the elements of water, temperature and time to decaffeinate speciality coffee in small batches, resulting in amazing coffee that is 99.9% caffeine-free.
The Triple (quadruple, in fact) benefits of our Swiss Water Decaf Coffee Pods
Quite simply you are not only ensuring the decaf coffee you enjoy contains no chemical trace elements, but you are also helping reduce the production and use of man-made industrial chemicals required to decaffeinate the estimated 80% of decaf coffees that use chemicals.
When you then place your used capsules in food waste, you are also minimising the waste that goes into landfill and the energy and emissions used to get your used capsules back to Nespresso® for recycling.
Three good arguments to make the switch, but there's a fouth too...the taste!
The Swiss Water® Process uses the elements of water, temperature and time to decaffeinate speciality coffee in small batches. Note the word speciality...yep our decaf capsules are filled with speciality grade decaf coffee, where the beans have been grown, farmed and harvested with the utmost care to taste amazing.
We're biased of course but many of those who try our capsules not only love our Swiss Water Decaf but also can't actually tell that it's decaf.
Now that's a testament to how far decaf coffee really has come since the insipid, horrible stuff our palettes are used to from years gone by!
So here's to many exceptional cups of decaf any time of the day...enjoy!
